Kimberly Maia Danielle Geddie of New York City, NY, passed away on October 4, 2023, in her home from a stroke caused by an undiagnosed heart condition.

Kimberly was born on May 25, 1988, in Dallas, Texas, to Natasha and Gary Geddie. After graduating with honors from Richardson High School in 2006, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in English and Political Science from Oklahoma State University. She was a College of Arts and Sciences Top 10 Senior, an Alumni Association Senior of Significance, and a member of Homecoming Royalty while at OSU.

Kimberly followed her dream and found her true home in New York City. She launched her career with a Teach for America placement at Arts High School in Newark, NJ. In 2012, she began working at Teach For All where she made significant contributions over the next seven years, ultimately rising to the position of Director of Data, Research, Evaluation, and Measurement Partnerships, with a focus on Europe and Middle East. Kimberly went on to serve in director-level roles at Achievement Network and Project Basta, nonprofits dedicated to educational equity.

Kimberly’s passions included baking and cooking for others, watching sports, seeing live performances, and traveling. Kimberly will always be remembered for her quick wit, work ethic, strong sense of social justice, and for being a loving and dependable friend.

She was preceded in death by her mother Natasha Geddie-Rinehart, aunt Antonia Newman Parker, and uncles Mark Anthony Geddie, and Louis Glenn Toles.

Kimberly is survived by her father Gary Geddie; sister Reina Geddie; grandparents Freda and Bob Stratton, and Bill Geddie; uncles Bobby Geddie, Scott Geddie, and Tim Toles; aunt Marsha Martin; special cousins P.A. Geddie, and Rachel Geddie Gross; adopted mother and father Grace and Roy Culbertson; adopted siblings Abbie, Andy, and Michael Culbertson; chosen family Jennifer Stoltz Dolan, Connie Mack Graston, Rachel Cleek Vroman, Jordan Alexander, Michaela Fowler, Nicole Martinez Moore, Matt Rath, Christy Savage, Ford Savage, Heather Staats-Freehling, Meredith and Clark Thomas; and numerous other relatives, dear friends, and loved ones across Texas, Oklahoma, New York, and beyond.

The interment of her ashes takes place at 1 p.m. EST October 21 in the peaceful gardens of Uptown Manhattan Trinity Cemetery & Mausoleum, 770 Riverside Drive, New York City. Celebrations of her life are scheduled in Richardson and New York City.
