Arthur "Artie" Gallagher, a proud New Yorker, selfless patriot, and beloved family man, passed away peacefully after a short illness on September 28, 2023, in Englewood, New Jersey. Artie, born on September 2, 1942, in New York, New York, was a man known for his infectious humor, endless love, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and country.

Artie was the son of the late Arthur and Marion (Duffy) Gallagher and the cherished brother of Maureen, Marion, Cookie, and the late Donald, Eugene, Patricia, Billy, Bobby, and Francis. His family was his heartbeat, and he deeply loved his late wife, Catherine (nee Ryan), their children, Arthur Jr and Sean Gallagher, and the late Denise Gallagher-Baum. The light of Artie's life was his grandson, Brendan Baum, who brought endless joy to his world.

Artie's education was rooted in the streets of New York and the school of life. He was a hardworking man who held various union jobs throughout his life, most recently serving as a doorman and a dedicated member of the 32-B-J Union in New York City. Artie's work ethic was unparalleled, a testament to his strong character, his commitment to providing for his family, and his unwavering belief in the power of unity and solidarity.

A lover of life and adventure, Artie was a member of the New Milford Elks 2290. He found peace in fishing and crabbing, and his love for trips to the casino was well known among his friends and family. One of his favorite pastimes was getting in his car and driving all over, exploring the world around him. A proud American, Artie always had the American Flag on his car, a symbol of his deep love for his country. His sense of duty and compassion also led him to volunteer at the 9-11 site, a testament to his selflessness and dedication to his fellow citizens.

Artie was a friend to all, known for his infectious laughter and ability to light up any room he entered. His selflessness was evident in his everyday actions, always putting others before himself. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel loved and valued, and his generosity knew no bounds.

Artie Gallagher leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service to others. His memory will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His spirit will live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love he bestowed upon us
