Obituary for Christopher Corbin

“There is an open gate at the end of the road through which each must
go alone, and there, in light we cannot see, Our Father claims His own.”

CHRISTOPHER CORBIN was born on May 22, 1946 to the late Marie and Henry Corbin Sr. in Manhattan, New York. He grew up on the lower east side of Manhattan. Chris attended Seward Park High School and attended City College. In 1966 he was drafted into the United States Marine Corps serving two years in Vietnam.

In 1971 Chris started his 27-1/2 year career with the New York City Transit Authority. He moved up the ranks in his tenure holding the position of Yard Dispatcher upon his retirement in January 1998.

In 2006, after living in Queens, New York for 35 years, Chris moved to New Jersey for a more fulfilling life. He found his calling for what he loved so much, singing. In 2008 he joined the singing group “The Coconuts.” With this group he would sing karaoke and make new friends.

In 2010 Chris started singing on his own and winning many singing contests. He often sang in adult living facilities earning money from his talent. He also hosted shows where he was the main attraction often singing mostly Frank Sinatra songs. Chris also had a love for bowling as well as travelling going on as many as 22 Caribbean cruises. His favorite cruise line was Royal Caribbean. Chris had a love for all kinds of animals including his bird Charli.

Always the consummate gentleman, Chris was very friendly and outgoing. Once you met him you usually clicked with him right away. He was tall in stature with a larger-than-life personality.

On the evening of Thursday, February 2, 2023, Chris peacefully entered into eternal rest with our Almighty God. He never recovered from his illness in late November.
