Obituary for Lucia Jimenez

Ana Lucia (Camacho) Gallego Jimenez, age 88, of New York City, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in Manhattan on October 10, 2018.

Ana Lucia, also known as Lucia, was born on May 3, 1930 in Bogotá, Colombia. Lucia grew up in Bogotá, Colombia in a large family. In 1964, Lucia made the brave decision to relocate to New York City in order to pursue the American Dream and create opportunity for her daughter, Martha, and son, Richard.

Lucia was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked as a fashion seamstress for Evans Fur & Leather for many years before retiring.

Lucia was a loving and beautiful mother. She was very proud of her family and dedicated to her children and grandchildren. Lucia loved music and spending time with her family. She also loved long walks in Manhattan, watching the news and apple pie.

Lucia was known for her fierce independence, beautiful strength and love for her family. She will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved her.

Lucia is survived by her husband Hugo Jimenez, children Martha Gallego Tsuchiya and Richard (Mary Rose) Gallego; grandchildren Sean Tsuchiya, Marisa Gallego, Ricky Gallego and Lauren Tsuchiya, and former spouse Ricardo Gallego.

Family and friends will gather at the Church of St. Francis of Xavier, 46 W 16th St., for the Funeral Mass on Friday, October 19, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, The Bronx NY.
