Life Story for Dolores "Lorye" Watson

Lorye Watson, 82, of New York City, passed away on Tuesday Sept 13, 2016 at home. Born August 23, 1934 in Burlington, New Jersey to James A and Kathryn (Lynch) Watson, she spent her early years in Riverton, NJ. She attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied Art History. Soon after graduation she moved to New York City to pursue a career in the fashion industry. While getting her career started, one of her first jobs was working as a private secretary for Ed Sullivan. Eventually she taught English and Costume Design at Parson’s School of Design. During her career she practiced costume design for off-Broadway shows and other venues. She had a rich social life and had a keen interest in horses, including volunteer work with therapy horses. Her other joy was travel to Italy and study of everything Italian. She enjoyed a connection with St. Clement’s Episcopal Church near her home.
Lorye is survived by her sister Jane Hubbs (Ralph) of Camden, NJ, her niece Robin Watson Hubbs (Jan Yarberry) of Lafayette, IN, special friends Tom & Pamela Winberry, William Johnson of New York City and many others of New York City and Riverton, NJ.
